Narrative:

Genot 2/21 was published on the subject of 'B737's.' FAA 7340.1U specifies that 'B737' applies only to the 700 series and the bbj types. The full range of designators is B731 to B739 plus B73Q. When I questioned the supervisor on this, he called our quality assurance office. They indicated that if it didn't say 'B737-700,' then it applied to all series and types. This contradicts FAA 7340.1, which is designed to keep all contractions the same across the FAA. Simply put, this is an error waiting to happen. If we don't use consistent contractions, sooner or later someone will be killed by a misinterp!
