Narrative:

On flight from gso to lga, while on descent, we noticed a strong odor of smoke. We immediately declared an emergency and were cleared by ATC to descend. We donned the oxygen masks on. We troubleshot the problem, but we started losing our instruments and displays. We were flying the aircraft on stand-by instruments. ATC vectored us to phl, but that placed us into a thunderstorm, then we got vectors to bwi.
