Publication | HAZARDOUS MATERIAL MANIFEST |
Narrative:
On flight abc on may/tue/02 ZZZ-ZZZ1 we were given a hazmat manifest showing 2 packages of class 3 material weighing 14.4 KG each. They were both loaded in the forward bay. I questioned whether we should check this, but we decided cargo should know what they are doing -- especially after all the trouble air carrier X has been in over hazmat handling. This was a huge mistake on our part. Upon further examination prior to our next leg, I discovered that this loading appeared to exceed the 25 KG limit per cargo bay for this class of material. We missed this limit the first time we looked at the manifest. I will never again listen to anyone tell me that cargo knows their job. I will check their work every time. This is the third time in the last 2-3 yrs that they have violated weight limits on flts I have been operating. Fortunately, the other 2 times we discovered the problem in time and had the material removed.
