Narrative:

When cleared for takeoff on runway 22R at the hold short line my first officer noticed that there was a B727 on approximately a one mi final to runway 27. Even though these runways don't overlap or intersect, a go around by this aircraft could have affected or overlapped our departure path in the turn to a heading of 140 degrees on the SID. We elected to double check the takeoff clearance which was repeated as correct by the controller. Then we slowly taxied into position and added power only after we confirmed that the B727 was on the runway. I recommend that company check again with ATC on the validity of this traffic handling at bos as a few more seconds delay would seem to be a little more prudent for all concerned.

Title: B757 FLT CREW DEPARTING BOS RWY 22R OBSERVE A B727 ON 1 MI FINAL RWY 27 AND DELAY THEIR ROLL UNTIL B727 LANDS.

Narrative: WHEN CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 22R AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE MY FO NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A B727 ON APPROX A ONE MI FINAL TO RWY 27. EVEN THOUGH THESE RWYS DON'T OVERLAP OR INTERSECT, A GAR BY THIS ACFT COULD HAVE AFFECTED OR OVERLAPPED OUR DEP PATH IN THE TURN TO A HEADING OF 140 DEGS ON THE SID. WE ELECTED TO DOUBLE CHECK THE TKOF CLRNC WHICH WAS REPEATED AS CORRECT BY THE CTLR. THEN WE SLOWLY TAXIED INTO POS AND ADDED POWER ONLY AFTER WE CONFIRMED THAT THE B727 WAS ON THE RWY. I RECOMMEND THAT COMPANY CHECK AGAIN WITH ATC ON THE VALIDITY OF THIS TFC HANDLING AT BOS AS A FEW MORE SECONDS DELAY WOULD SEEM TO BE A LITTLE MORE PRUDENT FOR ALL CONCERNED.
