Narrative:
On 07/sun/02, I was assigned aircraft X. After consulting logbook, called technical services about this egt excursion problem. Pilots also called technical earlier about this problem. Since the pilots called earlier, I decided to call technical because I thought they would have guidance and knowledge of this problem. I asked technical service personnel 'what should I do?' he said because of the history he will put a technical foreman note on this item to get the left engine within 5 flts. He said I could do the bite for the bleed valve control unit and transient pressure unit and I asked if I had to do this per the paperwork (fim 75-05-00 figure 116) and he said no. He also said that doing the bite would only help the engineers, so I don't have to do the bite. He said per the history it did not have 5 excursions into zone a. Nevertheless, the item was signed and the aircraft departed. Then, after it left ZZZ, I looked up the chart that he was referring to while I was talking to him. I noticed I had to do more than he told me. I should have 'find the cause and correct it' per tsm 71-05-00 figure 116 and figure 121. I contacted mr X after the flight left and he told me he would contact ZZZ maintenance and make sure the problem was looked into. He also was contacting an engineer about this problem.
