Narrative:
All checklists and procedures were followed and completed with policy. The checklists were read and the proper response was given. Upon application of power for takeoff, the takeoff warning horn sounded. We exited the runway where the stabilizer trim was discovered to be set towards the aft end of the takeoff band. The captain and I both agreed that it did appear to be within the green band, although not set at the required position as shown by the release. The stabilizer was trimmed forward and we taxied back and completed the before takeoff checklist again. A normal takeoff then followed. To prevent this from happening again from a first officer's position, I need to also verify the proper switch position as I read the checklist, not just listen for and accept the proper response.
