Narrative:
We were at our assigned altitude of 6000 ft, on the filmore transition for the ILS approach to runway 8 at bur, 4 mi from toaks intersection. We were advised of VFR traffic at our 12 O'clock position, less than 1 mi, with an altitude readout of 5500 ft. We visually sighted the traffic, a light single-engine aircraft which appeared to be performing aerobatic maneuvers above the solid cloud deck. The altitude, attitude, and direction of flight of the traffic was changing rapidly. A TCASII climb RA was received a few seconds after we were advised of the traffic. I initiated a climb and a turn to the right. We received a 'clear of conflict' advisory climbing through 6100 ft as the aircraft passed about 100 yards to our left and below us. ATC advised.

Title: AN MD80 CREW, ON APCH TO BUR, RESPONDED TO A CLB RA FROM TCASII.
Narrative: WE WERE AT OUR ASSIGNED ALT OF 6000 FT, ON THE FILMORE TRANSITION FOR THE ILS APCH TO RWY 8 AT BUR, 4 MI FROM TOAKS INTXN. WE WERE ADVISED OF VFR TFC AT OUR 12 O'CLOCK POS, LESS THAN 1 MI, WITH AN ALT READOUT OF 5500 FT. WE VISUALLY SIGHTED THE TFC, A LIGHT SINGLE-ENG ACFT WHICH APPEARED TO BE PERFORMING AEROBATIC MANEUVERS ABOVE THE SOLID CLOUD DECK. THE ALT, ATTITUDE, AND DIRECTION OF FLT OF THE TFC WAS CHANGING RAPIDLY. A TCASII CLB RA WAS RECEIVED A FEW SECONDS AFTER WE WERE ADVISED OF THE TFC. I INITIATED A CLB AND A TURN TO THE R. WE RECEIVED A 'CLR OF CONFLICT' ADVISORY CLBING THROUGH 6100 FT AS THE ACFT PASSED ABOUT 100 YARDS TO OUR L AND BELOW US. ATC ADVISED.
