Narrative:
I was at the B1 intersection awaiting departure on runway 36. I was told by tower controller to taxi 'position and hold on runway 36, hold short of runway 4 for departing traffic.' due to the location of the B1 intersection, as soon as I taxied onto runway 36, I was immediately 100 ft past the hold short line. I stopped immediately and waited for the traffic on runway 4 to depart. The departure of the traffic from runway 4 was uneventful and my departure was uneventful. I spoke to the tower, the following day, and they admitted it was their error to clear me onto the runway.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CESSNA 182 PLT IS CLRED INTO POS AND HOLD ON RWY 36, BUT HOLDS SHORT AFTER XING HOLD LINE AS HIS ACFT WOULD HAVE ENCROACHED UPON THE CLR AREA OF RWY 4L WHERE AN ACFT WAS ON A TKOF ROLL AT CMI, IL.
Narrative: I WAS AT THE B1 INTXN AWAITING DEP ON RWY 36. I WAS TOLD BY TWR CTLR TO TAXI 'POS AND HOLD ON RWY 36, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 4 FOR DEPARTING TFC.' DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE B1 INTXN, AS SOON AS I TAXIED ONTO RWY 36, I WAS IMMEDIATELY 100 FT PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND WAITED FOR THE TFC ON RWY 4 TO DEPART. THE DEP OF THE TFC FROM RWY 4 WAS UNEVENTFUL AND MY DEP WAS UNEVENTFUL. I SPOKE TO THE TWR, THE FOLLOWING DAY, AND THEY ADMITTED IT WAS THEIR ERROR TO CLR ME ONTO THE RWY.
