Narrative:

While clearing an MEL for a no heat light on a total air temperature probe, I installed the wrong part number that was given to me by my lead (off part number and serial number was unreadable). Aircraft returned from ZZZ with 'B' autoplt problems which I deferred thinking it needed a digital air data computer (no parts). After aircraft departed, I rechked parts catalog and realized probe was wrong part. I notified maintenance control and correct part was installed at ZZZ1 (next leg) and 'B' autoplt was cleared. I thought the part number was checked and in the rush of clearing the MEL on a through flight, a lack of communication caused the error.
