Narrative:

Location: taxiway B intersection M, taxi pretkof. Flight was weight restr. We were late leaving the gate because load was undecided about allowable passenger count. The female ground controller cleared us to taxi to runway 31 via taxiway G and taxiway B. We pulled a new tps from ACARS as we taxied. As we were discussing the takeoff data, ground told us to hold short of taxiway M and the first officer acknowledged. The takeoff data was confusing because load had inserted 5HW in the assumed temperature block. I was taxiing very slow because there was very little traffic and I thought we might have to get out of line to study the takeoff data and finish the checklist. As the nose of the aircraft reached the middle of intersection M, ground asked us, 'did you taxi past intersection M?' I immediately stopped the plane and the first officer replied, 'well, we're kind of in the middle of intersection M.' supervisor came on frequency and asked, 'air carrier X, did you taxi past intersection M?' I picked up the microphone and replied 'yes we did. I'm sorry, is there any problem?' he asked in a very agitated voice, 'why did you do that?' I replied, 'I'm sorry, we were distraction, is there a problem?' he said, 'hold short of taxiway north.' a few seconds later, well before we reached taxiway north, the previous controller came on in an urgent voice and said 'air carrier X, hold your position.' again I replied 'air carrier X we will hold our position, but our last clearance ws to hold short of taxiway north, is there any problem?' her reply was 'follow traffic at taxiway north and switch to tower.' we finished our tps review and the checklist as we monitored tower. I usually write down all hold short clrncs. On this flight I did not. That along with the distraction of an unusual revision to our tps contributed to this episode. In the future, I will write down all hold short clrncs. Supplemental information from acn 564614: initial tps showed maximum power takeoff on runway 4 as only authority/authorized runway, but lga was landing runway 22 and departing runway 31. Captain coordinated with dispatcher and gate agents conducted child count and reduced planned takeoff weight. New tps was issued showing runway 31 as authority/authorized runway. The ground controllers never appeared to accept our apologies over what appeared to us to be a very minor failure to comply with instructions. They seemed to regard the entire issue as an extremely serious (possibly even dangerous) event, which prompted us to file as an as soon as possible.

Title: TXWY INCURSION BY AN S80 FLC RAISES THE IRE OF 2 GND CTLRS AT LGA, NY.

Narrative: LOCATION: TXWY B INTXN M, TAXI PRETKOF. FLT WAS WT RESTR. WE WERE LATE LEAVING THE GATE BECAUSE LOAD WAS UNDECIDED ABOUT ALLOWABLE PAX COUNT. THE FEMALE GND CTLR CLRED US TO TAXI TO RWY 31 VIA TXWY G AND TXWY B. WE PULLED A NEW TPS FROM ACARS AS WE TAXIED. AS WE WERE DISCUSSING THE TKOF DATA, GND TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY M AND THE FO ACKNOWLEDGED. THE TKOF DATA WAS CONFUSING BECAUSE LOAD HAD INSERTED 5HW IN THE ASSUMED TEMP BLOCK. I WAS TAXIING VERY SLOW BECAUSE THERE WAS VERY LITTLE TFC AND I THOUGHT WE MIGHT HAVE TO GET OUT OF LINE TO STUDY THE TKOF DATA AND FINISH THE CHKLIST. AS THE NOSE OF THE ACFT REACHED THE MIDDLE OF INTXN M, GND ASKED US, 'DID YOU TAXI PAST INTXN M?' I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE PLANE AND THE FO REPLIED, 'WELL, WE'RE KIND OF IN THE MIDDLE OF INTXN M.' SUPVR CAME ON FREQ AND ASKED, 'ACR X, DID YOU TAXI PAST INTXN M?' I PICKED UP THE MIKE AND REPLIED 'YES WE DID. I'M SORRY, IS THERE ANY PROB?' HE ASKED IN A VERY AGITATED VOICE, 'WHY DID YOU DO THAT?' I REPLIED, 'I'M SORRY, WE WERE DISTR, IS THERE A PROB?' HE SAID, 'HOLD SHORT OF TXWY N.' A FEW SECONDS LATER, WELL BEFORE WE REACHED TXWY N, THE PREVIOUS CTLR CAME ON IN AN URGENT VOICE AND SAID 'ACR X, HOLD YOUR POS.' AGAIN I REPLIED 'ACR X WE WILL HOLD OUR POS, BUT OUR LAST CLRNC WS TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY N, IS THERE ANY PROB?' HER REPLY WAS 'FOLLOW TFC AT TXWY N AND SWITCH TO TWR.' WE FINISHED OUR TPS REVIEW AND THE CHKLIST AS WE MONITORED TWR. I USUALLY WRITE DOWN ALL HOLD SHORT CLRNCS. ON THIS FLT I DID NOT. THAT ALONG WITH THE DISTR OF AN UNUSUAL REVISION TO OUR TPS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS EPISODE. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL WRITE DOWN ALL HOLD SHORT CLRNCS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 564614: INITIAL TPS SHOWED MAX PWR TKOF ON RWY 4 AS ONLY AUTH RWY, BUT LGA WAS LNDG RWY 22 AND DEPARTING RWY 31. CAPT COORDINATED WITH DISPATCHER AND GATE AGENTS CONDUCTED CHILD COUNT AND REDUCED PLANNED TKOF WT. NEW TPS WAS ISSUED SHOWING RWY 31 AS AUTH RWY. THE GND CTLRS NEVER APPEARED TO ACCEPT OUR APOLOGIES OVER WHAT APPEARED TO US TO BE A VERY MINOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH INSTRUCTIONS. THEY SEEMED TO REGARD THE ENTIRE ISSUE AS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS (POSSIBLY EVEN DANGEROUS) EVENT, WHICH PROMPTED US TO FILE AS AN ASAP.
