Narrative:
A borrowed FMGC was sent in to fix aircraft. Part was pulled and borrowed tag was made by an individual from station we borrowed part. Paperwork showed correct part number and computer took part when entered. In no circumstance was there a problem during the chkout of part or a rejection when land test was accomplished. Also, trying to work gates for receipt and dispatch as well as trying to fix aircraft could have caused part of oversight, but nowhere on part was there any indication that this was not the part to go on aircraft. Maintenance control set up the borrowing of part and having this part shipped in. Also, several different manufacturing part numbers can be the same class control number. Our paperwork should in the future show both manufacturing and class control for future reference. In the end, the part was removed and the proper part installed on aircraft. No events occurred due to the mix-up.
