Narrative:

While being vectored to final, tower reported moderate freezing rain to another aircraft. We continued our approach and landed without incident. Gave PIREP of light rain, no icing and braking action good. Upon hearing the report of moderate freezing rain, the first officer and myself talked about whether or not we could land. We thought we could land but not take off. We had mixed up moderate freezing drizzle with moderate freezing rain. We realized our mistake at the gate after looking it up. The correct action would have been to divert or hold at the LOM and see if the WX would go back to light freezing rain. While the WX conditions were nowhere near the moderate freezing rain reported by the tower, the report still needed to be honored.
