Narrative:
Departed for dal from ZZZ2 after the mechanics wired the right engine anti-ice valve open. We had normal indications in the climb out until just north of iah. We noticed the #2 engine oil temperature gauge in the amber and #2 fuel heat valve open with the #2 fuel heat switch off. We decided to return to ZZZ while keeping the engine oil temperature normal through higher thrust usage. Made a normal, uneventful landing. Upon further investigation with the mechanics, found they had mistakenly wired the #2 fuel heat valve open instead of the #2 engine anti-ice valve. With the mayhem of trying to get the maintenance items accomplished and hustle to make up some of the time lost, I never noticed the #2 fuel heat valve light on until noting the high oil temperature. In the future, I will do a last min scan of the cockpit panels before departure.

Title: A B737-200 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH THE INCORRECT R ENG ANTI-ICE VALVE WIRED OPEN. CAUSED DIVERSION DUE TO HIGH OIL TEMP.
Narrative: DEPARTED FOR DAL FROM ZZZ2 AFTER THE MECHS WIRED THE R ENG ANTI-ICE VALVE OPEN. WE HAD NORMAL INDICATIONS IN THE CLBOUT UNTIL JUST N OF IAH. WE NOTICED THE #2 ENG OIL TEMP GAUGE IN THE AMBER AND #2 FUEL HEAT VALVE OPEN WITH THE #2 FUEL HEAT SWITCH OFF. WE DECIDED TO RETURN TO ZZZ WHILE KEEPING THE ENG OIL TEMP NORMAL THROUGH HIGHER THRUST USAGE. MADE A NORMAL, UNEVENTFUL LNDG. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION WITH THE MECHS, FOUND THEY HAD MISTAKENLY WIRED THE #2 FUEL HEAT VALVE OPEN INSTEAD OF THE #2 ENG ANTI-ICE VALVE. WITH THE MAYHEM OF TRYING TO GET THE MAINT ITEMS ACCOMPLISHED AND HUSTLE TO MAKE UP SOME OF THE TIME LOST, I NEVER NOTICED THE #2 FUEL HEAT VALVE LIGHT ON UNTIL NOTING THE HIGH OIL TEMP. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL DO A LAST MIN SCAN OF THE COCKPIT PANELS BEFORE DEP.
