Narrative:

Gear extension attempted upon approach. Mechanical abnormality detected upon 'clunking' sound on gear extension and 2 or 3 green gear lights. Tried to recycle gear without success (same results). Circled east of airport to reattempt electric gear extension and lock with left rudder for wind assistance (same results). Referred to pom for manual gear extension and lock (same results). Landed normally after confirmation from tower visually that left main gear was down. Left main gear collapsed at approximately 50 KTS on ground rollout. Airplane slid to stop on taxiway with immediate evacuate/evacuation.
