Narrative:
A series of events transpired to leave me with only mins of fuel when I landed. Our long term fuel supplier at our san juan base stopped supplying us. Our destination airport now became our primary source for fuel. But on this day, they (vqs) were out. I went to our alternate (fajardo), but construction precluded us from fueling. I measured the fuel in the tanks and consulted with my boss by phone. He said I should go to isla grande for gas, but I said san juan international was closer. (My boss later said he didn't calculate correctly the fuel needed to fly to san juan from fajardo.) on downwind leg to san juan international, I asked for and received clearance to divert to isla grande (arriving at san juan international would've taken us back where we started -- without any good fueling options). The net result was arriving with marginal fuel.
