Narrative:

I was flying VFR from 3TR to gsh to pick up a charter. Sbn approach called traffic, '9 mi southeast, 1-2 O'clock position.' I responded that I was looking. King air was descending from 5300 ft MSL to 2000 ft MSL. Nothing was said about aircraft on a collision course. As I was watching for traffic, I saw the king air and started a descent and left turn. The king air started a left climbing turn. I think sbn approach should have realized we were on a collision course and advised me or the king air to change altitude.
