Narrative:
I was told by my supervisor at XA39 to assist a fellow mechanic remove a fuel panel containing a drip stick on the left wing. The panel was removed, and stick repacked. At the end of the stick repack, it was approaching my quitting time, so we called the supervisor. The supervisor told us to give the 'turnover' to the incoming lead mechanic, who was standing by me. The 'turnover' was given to him by us, and the supervisor. The next day, the panel was still not installed. This problem could have been averted if the panel had been reinstalled as directed by the supervisor to the incoming mechanic.
