Narrative:
Following an ATR that took a 2 min wake delay, we were cleared to taxi in position and hold. After ATR was cleared, we were given clearance. ATR was straight out, we were on jetss 1 with 060 degree heading. No traffic information was given. At rotation, I heard ATC exchange with another aircraft in which tower said 'all I have is an ATR straight out.' approaching 800 ft AGL, a TA appeared showing a target directly ahead and -900 ft. First officer and I tried to get visual but were not able. I reduced power and leveled off. We were still unable to see intruder. I made a left clearing turn while first officer called ATC and asked for traffic information. Tower replied that the aircraft was in the VFR corridor and was not a factor. TCASII had us as close as 400 ft. I believe this would have been an RA, but for the altitude provision on TCASII. We never had a visual on the aircraft. Tower quickly changed our frequency. I informed the departure controller that we had responded to a TA and he said he would inform his supervisor. There was no traffic given to us or the previous departure. I believe there was an near midair collision.

Title: B757 DEPARTING SJU EXPERIENCED NMAC, NO TFC ISSUED BY ATC.
Narrative: FOLLOWING AN ATR THAT TOOK A 2 MIN WAKE DELAY, WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI IN POS AND HOLD. AFTER ATR WAS CLRED, WE WERE GIVEN CLRNC. ATR WAS STRAIGHT OUT, WE WERE ON JETSS 1 WITH 060 DEG HDG. NO TFC INFO WAS GIVEN. AT ROTATION, I HEARD ATC EXCHANGE WITH ANOTHER ACFT IN WHICH TWR SAID 'ALL I HAVE IS AN ATR STRAIGHT OUT.' APCHING 800 FT AGL, A TA APPEARED SHOWING A TARGET DIRECTLY AHEAD AND -900 FT. FO AND I TRIED TO GET VISUAL BUT WERE NOT ABLE. I REDUCED PWR AND LEVELED OFF. WE WERE STILL UNABLE TO SEE INTRUDER. I MADE A L CLRING TURN WHILE FO CALLED ATC AND ASKED FOR TFC INFO. TWR REPLIED THAT THE ACFT WAS IN THE VFR CORRIDOR AND WAS NOT A FACTOR. TCASII HAD US AS CLOSE AS 400 FT. I BELIEVE THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN RA, BUT FOR THE ALT PROVISION ON TCASII. WE NEVER HAD A VISUAL ON THE ACFT. TWR QUICKLY CHANGED OUR FREQ. I INFORMED THE DEP CTLR THAT WE HAD RESPONDED TO A TA AND HE SAID HE WOULD INFORM HIS SUPVR. THERE WAS NO TFC GIVEN TO US OR THE PREVIOUS DEP. I BELIEVE THERE WAS AN NMAC.
