Narrative:
As I arrived at the aircraft for a morning preflight, I noticed that aft galley door was open and no catering truck was present. As I proceeded to the rear of the aircraft, I noticed the cleaning crew cleaning the aircraft. As I reached the tail of the aircraft, the aft galley door was wide open with no safety strap across the galley or the door. This presented a danger to the cleaning crew. I closed the door and asked anyone if they had opened the door. One of the cleaning crew members said he had opened the door. I advised him that it was not safe to have the door open without a safety strap or the catering truck present. I advised the cleaning crew chief and he said he would take care of it. I feel it is important to pass the word along so we prevent a regrettable accident.
