Narrative:
The following narrative describes an unintentional incursion into the jfk tfr. At approximately XA00 hours this evening I departed isp in a robinson helicopter (R22 beta ii). The intention of this short flight was to test a new GPS. The departure out of isp was to the east. The test was conducted over the east end of long island. On the return flight, an east to west transition was secured from fok. Hecksher state park is 21000 yards (7 NM) south and slightly west of isp and is one of their reporting points. I flew to the park at an altitude of 800 ft and began to circle as I copied the ATIS report. It then occurred to me that hecksher may be on the fringe, if not actually within the recently established tfr. Under this assumption I quickly turned east and called in to isp for a vector back to the field. Once on the ground I inspected the charts and realized that I actually penetrated the tfr by a little over 6000 yards (3 NM). I assure you that this was an unintentional and purely innocuous event.

Title: A SHORT FLT TO TEST A NEW GPS INCLUDES AN UNINTENTIONAL ENTRY INTO THE JFK TFR.
Narrative: THE FOLLOWING NARRATIVE DESCRIBES AN UNINTENTIONAL INCURSION INTO THE JFK TFR. AT APPROX XA00 HOURS THIS EVENING I DEPARTED ISP IN A ROBINSON HELI (R22 BETA II). THE INTENTION OF THIS SHORT FLT WAS TO TEST A NEW GPS. THE DEP OUT OF ISP WAS TO THE E. THE TEST WAS CONDUCTED OVER THE E END OF LONG ISLAND. ON THE RETURN FLT, AN E TO W TRANSITION WAS SECURED FROM FOK. HECKSHER STATE PARK IS 21000 YARDS (7 NM) S AND SLIGHTLY W OF ISP AND IS ONE OF THEIR RPTING POINTS. I FLEW TO THE PARK AT AN ALT OF 800 FT AND BEGAN TO CIRCLE AS I COPIED THE ATIS RPT. IT THEN OCCURRED TO ME THAT HECKSHER MAY BE ON THE FRINGE, IF NOT ACTUALLY WITHIN THE RECENTLY ESTABLISHED TFR. UNDER THIS ASSUMPTION I QUICKLY TURNED E AND CALLED IN TO ISP FOR A VECTOR BACK TO THE FIELD. ONCE ON THE GND I INSPECTED THE CHARTS AND REALIZED THAT I ACTUALLY PENETRATED THE TFR BY A LITTLE OVER 6000 YARDS (3 NM). I ASSURE YOU THAT THIS WAS AN UNINTENTIONAL AND PURELY INNOCUOUS EVENT.
