Narrative:
Against better judgement, after being instructed to taxi to the active runway, I completed my run-up at the hold short line and then took the active without the proper clearance. I did not plan to depart before being 'cleared for takeoff,' however, I realized I was totally wrong for being on the runway in the first place. I was reprimanded by the controller, but allowed to depart. Without making excuses, some contributing factors may have been lack of controled field experience, a quiet morning on the field, flying with a non pilot passenger. I was in very close proximity to the tower, which may have given a feeling of 'security' or 'safety' of my (bad) operations. I immediately reviewed ground operations in the far-aim as well as consulted with a CFI. I understand the magnitude of my mistake and will not be a repeat offender.

Title: PA28 PLT ENTERED THE RWY WITHOUT CLRNC AT IAG.
Narrative: AGAINST BETTER JUDGEMENT, AFTER BEING INSTRUCTED TO TAXI TO THE ACTIVE RWY, I COMPLETED MY RUN-UP AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND THEN TOOK THE ACTIVE WITHOUT THE PROPER CLRNC. I DID NOT PLAN TO DEPART BEFORE BEING 'CLRED FOR TKOF,' HOWEVER, I REALIZED I WAS TOTALLY WRONG FOR BEING ON THE RWY IN THE FIRST PLACE. I WAS REPRIMANDED BY THE CTLR, BUT ALLOWED TO DEPART. WITHOUT MAKING EXCUSES, SOME CONTRIBUTING FACTORS MAY HAVE BEEN LACK OF CTLED FIELD EXPERIENCE, A QUIET MORNING ON THE FIELD, FLYING WITH A NON PLT PAX. I WAS IN VERY CLOSE PROX TO THE TWR, WHICH MAY HAVE GIVEN A FEELING OF 'SECURITY' OR 'SAFETY' OF MY (BAD) OPS. I IMMEDIATELY REVIEWED GND OPS IN THE FAR-AIM AS WELL AS CONSULTED WITH A CFI. I UNDERSTAND THE MAGNITUDE OF MY MISTAKE AND WILL NOT BE A REPEAT OFFENDER.
