Narrative:
At approximately XA00 on 04/sun/03, I called williamsburg FSS to get a briefing and the NOTAMS for a trip from pne to republic/farmingdale on long island, ny. I filed an ADIZ flight plan and was advised by a briefer to pick up a clearance from ny approach on 127.4, prior to passing the robbinsville VOR. When I called ny approach they did not have a squawk code for me. I called FSS again and they could not find my strip so I had to re-file again in the air. In the meantime, I realized that I was not going to have the squawk code before robbinsville VOR so started circling about 1 mile east of robbinsville VOR while waiting. Approximately 5 to 10 mins later I received a clearance from ny approach into the bravo airspace and was told to climb to 3500 ft and fly direct to colt's neck VOR and then to proceed along a radial directly towards the jfk VORTAC. I was also instructed to turn right when I reached the coastline and follow along en route to my destination. Upon landing I was told by the republic tower to call a phone number. I called and spoke to 'an aviation counselor.' I was told that I crossed just into the ADIZ and that they have very sophisticated equipment to tell them exactly where I was and exactly when I was there. The counselor read back my information and he read the wrong tail number. My tail number was nabcde and he read it as nafcde. It was not until then that I realized why they did not have my strip ready, the briefer copied the north number down wrong.

Title: AIRSPACE INCURSION CHARGED WHEN A PA28 PVT PLT ENTERS THE NY ADIZ AT 2000 FT 3 NM NE OF RBV VOR, NJ.
Narrative: AT APPROX XA00 ON 04/SUN/03, I CALLED WILLIAMSBURG FSS TO GET A BRIEFING AND THE NOTAMS FOR A TRIP FROM PNE TO REPUBLIC/FARMINGDALE ON LONG ISLAND, NY. I FILED AN ADIZ FLT PLAN AND WAS ADVISED BY A BRIEFER TO PICK UP A CLRNC FROM NY APCH ON 127.4, PRIOR TO PASSING THE ROBBINSVILLE VOR. WHEN I CALLED NY APCH THEY DID NOT HAVE A SQUAWK CODE FOR ME. I CALLED FSS AGAIN AND THEY COULD NOT FIND MY STRIP SO I HAD TO RE-FILE AGAIN IN THE AIR. IN THE MEANTIME, I REALIZED THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO HAVE THE SQUAWK CODE BEFORE ROBBINSVILLE VOR SO STARTED CIRCLING ABOUT 1 MILE E OF ROBBINSVILLE VOR WHILE WAITING. APPROX 5 TO 10 MINS LATER I RECEIVED A CLRNC FROM NY APCH INTO THE BRAVO AIRSPACE AND WAS TOLD TO CLB TO 3500 FT AND FLY DIRECT TO COLT'S NECK VOR AND THEN TO PROCEED ALONG A RADIAL DIRECTLY TOWARDS THE JFK VORTAC. I WAS ALSO INSTRUCTED TO TURN R WHEN I REACHED THE COASTLINE AND FOLLOW ALONG ENRTE TO MY DEST. UPON LNDG I WAS TOLD BY THE REPUBLIC TWR TO CALL A PHONE NUMBER. THE COUNSELOR READ BACK MY INFO AND HE READ THE WRONG TAIL NUMBER. MY TAIL NUMBER WAS NABCDE AND HE READ IT AS NAFCDE. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THEN THAT I REALIZED WHY THEY DID NOT HAVE MY STRIP READY, THE BRIEFER COPIED THE N NUMBER DOWN WRONG.
