Narrative:
After takeoff from teb off runway 24 at 1500 ft, flew 280 degree heading per SID and continued climb to 3000 ft MSL. ATC queried altitude at about 2500 ft MSL, and instructed us to descend to 1500 ft MSL. DME was about 4.0 from teb. The SID called to level at 1500 ft until 4.5 from teb, then climb to 3000 ft on 280 degree heading. We immediately descended to 1500 ft MSL, and then ATC instructed us to climb to 3000 ft MSL just as we were leveling off. DME was now about 5.2 DME from teb. After further review of departure, we realized climb was initiated early and discussed what went wrong among crew. There was no further event with ATC, and flight continued without further event.

Title: CE560 FLT CREW HAS AN ALT EXCURSION DURING TEB 5 DEP FROM TEB.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM TEB OFF RWY 24 AT 1500 FT, FLEW 280 DEG HDG PER SID AND CONTINUED CLB TO 3000 FT MSL. ATC QUERIED ALT AT ABOUT 2500 FT MSL, AND INSTRUCTED US TO DSND TO 1500 FT MSL. DME WAS ABOUT 4.0 FROM TEB. THE SID CALLED TO LEVEL AT 1500 FT UNTIL 4.5 FROM TEB, THEN CLB TO 3000 FT ON 280 DEG HDG. WE IMMEDIATELY DSNDED TO 1500 FT MSL, AND THEN ATC INSTRUCTED US TO CLB TO 3000 FT MSL JUST AS WE WERE LEVELING OFF. DME WAS NOW ABOUT 5.2 DME FROM TEB. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW OF DEP, WE REALIZED CLB WAS INITIATED EARLY AND DISCUSSED WHAT WENT WRONG AMONG CREW. THERE WAS NO FURTHER EVENT WITH ATC, AND FLT CONTINUED WITHOUT FURTHER EVENT.
