Company X (cater truck) was in the pushback envelope behind aircraft not on vsr (vehicle service road). Contributing factors: bad WX snow, rain, wind, darkness. How it was discovered: aircraft hit catering truck on pushback and damaged APU, tailpipe. Corrective action: do not park truck behind aircraft at pushback. Perceptions: was not aware the truck was there. Judgement: the result of bad judgement on parking of truck. Quality of human performance: being under stress and duress from incompetent management decisions at air carrier X airlines.

Title: A B737-300 INCURRED APU TAILPIPE DAMAGE DURING PUSHBACK FROM GATE, STRIKING A FOOD SVC TRUCK. TRUCK PARKED IN SAFETY ENVELOPE BEHIND ACFT.
Narrative: COMPANY X (CATER TRUCK) WAS IN THE PUSHBACK ENVELOPE BEHIND ACFT NOT ON VSR (VEHICLE SVC ROAD). CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: BAD WX SNOW, RAIN, WIND, DARKNESS. HOW IT WAS DISCOVERED: ACFT HIT CATERING TRUCK ON PUSHBACK AND DAMAGED APU, TAILPIPE. CORRECTIVE ACTION: DO NOT PARK TRUCK BEHIND ACFT AT PUSHBACK. PERCEPTIONS: WAS NOT AWARE THE TRUCK WAS THERE.
