Narrative:
We had departed ogd runway 7 VFR. Intent was to pick up IFR airborne to expedite departure from ogd. Ogd underlies approach for hif ILS. Tower controller advised to switch to ATC for advisories, which we did. Approach was busy, immediately issued a code (VFR code) and advised on traffic into hill and understood to expedite climb to 9500 ft for traffic. We saw the tanker aircraft and avoided, and continued to climb. Primary concern was the tanker aircraft which I assumed we were climbing for. We were then switched frequencys. We noted another aircraft on our TCASII system and deviated to avoid course. Controller came on the radio and advised we were told to maintain 9500 ft. I remarked that I had understood the advisory to expedite above 9500 ft for traffic. I had an inexperienced pilot in the right seat that frequently rode with me. He was running radios and challenged me on climb. We discussed the altitude assignment, but did not clarify with ATC. Afterwards, I advised him that if the action were to occur again, please question and don't be afraid to challenge me.

Title: C525 FLT CREW HAS ALTDEV AND CONFLICT WITH MIL TANKER TFC DURING DEP FROM OGD.
Narrative: WE HAD DEPARTED OGD RWY 7 VFR. INTENT WAS TO PICK UP IFR AIRBORNE TO EXPEDITE DEP FROM OGD. OGD UNDERLIES APCH FOR HIF ILS. TWR CTLR ADVISED TO SWITCH TO ATC FOR ADVISORIES, WHICH WE DID. APCH WAS BUSY, IMMEDIATELY ISSUED A CODE (VFR CODE) AND ADVISED ON TFC INTO HILL AND UNDERSTOOD TO EXPEDITE CLB TO 9500 FT FOR TFC. WE SAW THE TANKER ACFT AND AVOIDED, AND CONTINUED TO CLB. PRIMARY CONCERN WAS THE TANKER ACFT WHICH I ASSUMED WE WERE CLBING FOR. WE WERE THEN SWITCHED FREQS. WE NOTED ANOTHER ACFT ON OUR TCASII SYS AND DEVIATED TO AVOID COURSE. CTLR CAME ON THE RADIO AND ADVISED WE WERE TOLD TO MAINTAIN 9500 FT. I REMARKED THAT I HAD UNDERSTOOD THE ADVISORY TO EXPEDITE ABOVE 9500 FT FOR TFC. I HAD AN INEXPERIENCED PLT IN THE R SEAT THAT FREQUENTLY RODE WITH ME. HE WAS RUNNING RADIOS AND CHALLENGED ME ON CLB. WE DISCUSSED THE ALT ASSIGNMENT, BUT DID NOT CLARIFY WITH ATC. AFTERWARDS, I ADVISED HIM THAT IF THE ACTION WERE TO OCCUR AGAIN, PLEASE QUESTION AND DON'T BE AFRAID TO CHALLENGE ME.
