Narrative:
Return flight from reno, nv (4SD), flight following, phx TRACON advised us to squawk VFR, change to tower. 7 mi northwest of scottsdale, we called sdl tower, with location, altitude and ATIS. Scottsdale replied with our 'north' number but nothing else, except 'roger' (bonanza xyz, sdl tower, roger). Once inside airspace on 3.5 mi, 45 degree entry to right traffic for runway 21, we called tower for landing clearance. Tower advised we violated the class D, and asked (who and where were we, he forgot). I reminded him we were previously idented, and 2-WAY communication established. He said we needed 'instructions' prior to entry? This is the second time sdl tower just plain forgot about me, on a weekend night. He got surprised when he realized he forgot me and became defensive. There was no other traffic. This repeated pattern (forgetting aircraft) scares me!

Title: AFTER RADAR SVC TERMINATED BY APCH CTL, A BE36 PLT CALLS SDL TWR WITH LNDG INFO AND CTLR REPLIES WITH THE PLANE'S CALL SIGN AND 'ROGER.' WHEN THE PLT ENTERS TFC PATTERN, HE IS ADMONISHED BY THE CTLR FOR ENTERING THE CLASS D WITHOUT ESTABLISHING RADIO CONTACT.

THERE WAS NO OTHER TFC. THIS REPEATED PATTERN (FORGETTING ACFT) SCARES ME!
