Narrative:

In the midst of a multi-day camping trip, in a very remote section of the nevada desert, I took a pleasure flight above the black rock desert. I passed a gathering of vehicles at about 1 mi laterally, 500 ft vertically. I was subsequently informed by a friend that a tfr had been established in the area for model rocketry. Practical prevention, given the remoteness of the situation, is awareness of rocketry gatherings in the black rock desert. Possibly acquisition of a satellite telephone, in the future, may be useful for obtaining a preflight briefing.
