Narrative:
Flight director captured a false localizer signal for runway 12. This caused a map shift when the FMS tried to update the relative position to the airport. We were about 2 NM north of desired course. Raw data localizer signal also centered then went immediately to expanded scale on his. Then showed full right. Then map shifted to the south and onto the correct position. Flew visually to the airport.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLT CREW OF B757 EXPERIENCED FALSE LOC CAPTURE AT MMUN. FALSE CAPTURE INITIATED FMS UPDATE WHICH CAUSED MAP SHIFT. SUBSEQUENT CAPTURE OF ACTUAL LOC PRODUCED ANOTHER UPDATE AND MAP SHIFT BACK TO CORRECT DISPLAY. APCH AND LNDG MADE VISUALLY.
