Narrative:

After departure from mem, about 15 mi east of mem, at 5000 ft MSL, departure advised of traffic at 11 O'clock position, at 4800 ft MSL. Departure said the VFR traffic had us in sight. We advised departure that we were at 5000 ft and we had the traffic. Then we received a TCASII RA 'climb.' we climbed to about 6000 ft and the first officer advised the traffic passed underneath our aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 589177: departed memphis on runway 18L and during climb out had a gear door light problem. ATC gave us vectors for air return back to memphis. When we advised ATC of traffic conflict they said traffic had a visual on our position. Traffic was observed passing beneath us from left to right.
