Narrative:
While at FL350 (cruise flight) and en route from mem-las, we experienced a 'cargo compartment smoke' (aft and bulk smoke) warning on both the ECAM and overhead 'cargo compartment smoke detect' panel. Oxygen masks were donned and we complied with the ECAM and checklist, declared an emergency and diverted to abq. Agent #1 was discharged, followed by agent #2 (on approach) per the checklist. Emergency and fire vehicles were requested and standing by our arrival at abq. After arrival at abq (19 mins later) on runway 8, in an area accessible from all sides, the aircraft was stopped on the runway and surrounded by emergency vehicles. A request was made for ramp personnel to respond with maintenance, tugs and loading support equipment and personnel. Thereafter, an emergency evacuate/evacuation was accomplished. All fire bottles were expended per the checklist (engine and APU). Flight crew egress was attempted via the cabin door (L1). The door opened normally. However, the escape slide did not deploy. Use of the manual handle was also unsuccessful. The crew exited via the right cabin door (R1) using fire department snorkel vehicle. The fire personnel noted strong smoke odors present when initially opening and inspecting the aft bulk area. No dangerous goods were listed for this compartment.

Title: A310 CREW HAD AN ECAM 'CARGO COMPARTMENT SMOKE' WARNING IN ZAB CLASS A. THE CREW DIVERTED TO THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT.
Narrative: WHILE AT FL350 (CRUISE FLT) AND ENRTE FROM MEM-LAS, WE EXPERIENCED A 'CARGO COMPARTMENT SMOKE' (AFT AND BULK SMOKE) WARNING ON BOTH THE ECAM AND OVERHEAD 'CARGO COMPARTMENT SMOKE DETECT' PANEL. OXYGEN MASKS WERE DONNED AND WE COMPLIED WITH THE ECAM AND CHKLIST, DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED TO ABQ. AGENT #1 WAS DISCHARGED, FOLLOWED BY AGENT #2 (ON APCH) PER THE CHKLIST. EMER AND FIRE VEHICLES WERE REQUESTED AND STANDING BY OUR ARR AT ABQ. AFTER ARR AT ABQ (19 MINS LATER) ON RWY 8, IN AN AREA ACCESSIBLE FROM ALL SIDES, THE ACFT WAS STOPPED ON THE RWY AND SURROUNDED BY EMER VEHICLES. A REQUEST WAS MADE FOR RAMP PERSONNEL TO RESPOND WITH MAINT, TUGS AND LOADING SUPPORT EQUIP AND PERSONNEL. THEREAFTER, AN EMER EVAC WAS ACCOMPLISHED. ALL FIRE BOTTLES WERE EXPENDED PER THE CHKLIST (ENG AND APU). FLT CREW EGRESS WAS ATTEMPTED VIA THE CABIN DOOR (L1). THE DOOR OPENED NORMALLY. HOWEVER, THE ESCAPE SLIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. USE OF THE MANUAL HANDLE WAS ALSO UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CREW EXITED VIA THE R CABIN DOOR (R1) USING FIRE DEPT SNORKEL VEHICLE. THE FIRE PERSONNEL NOTED STRONG SMOKE ODORS PRESENT WHEN INITIALLY OPENING AND INSPECTING THE AFT BULK AREA. NO DANGEROUS GOODS WERE LISTED FOR THIS COMPARTMENT.
