Narrative:

We taxied out of penalty box when we were told we had a gate, before ground had cleared us to taxi. We started moving to facilitate our taxi time. We were trying to call ground to get clearance. We tried several times to talk to ground, but were not answered. Finally ground called us and asked, 'who is taxiing out of the penalty box without clearance.' we said it was us and he told us to return to the box, and he would get to us when he had time.

Title: S80 AT STL BEGINS TO TAXI OUT OF PENALTY BOX WITHOUT ATC CLRNC.

Narrative: WE TAXIED OUT OF PENALTY BOX WHEN WE WERE TOLD WE HAD A GATE, BEFORE GND HAD CLRED US TO TAXI. WE STARTED MOVING TO FACILITATE OUR TAXI TIME. WE WERE TRYING TO CALL GND TO GET CLRNC. WE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO TALK TO GND, BUT WERE NOT ANSWERED. FINALLY GND CALLED US AND ASKED, 'WHO IS TAXIING OUT OF THE PENALTY BOX WITHOUT CLRNC.' WE SAID IT WAS US AND HE TOLD US TO RETURN TO THE BOX, AND HE WOULD GET TO US WHEN HE HAD TIME.
