Narrative:
We leveled off at FL320. Approaching zzzzz (approximately 40 NM), we got an EICAS message indicating the right main fuel tank and totalizer went blank. We established a phone patch with maintenance control and they concurred in reference to our MEL that we should not enter oceanic airspace. We announced our intentions on 171.5 and turned 90 degrees to the left and descent to FL315. Established a 25 NM offset back to ZZZ. Received our ATC clearance and proceeded uneventful to ZZZ. An emergency was not declared and a successful landing was made.
