Narrative:

Flew all-nighter to ZZZ. Landed and taxied to the gate. Accomplished after landing checklist/engine shutdown checklist, but failed to shut down right engine. Returned to aircraft shortly after leaving to shut it down. I believe that the factors that led to this event were: 1) fatigue from all nighter. 2) distraction by APU failing to start and waiting for ground personnel to attach external power. 3) I left my seat before finishing checklist because I needed to go to the bathroom really bad. 4) we were in a rush to make a connecting flight that was leaving in 9 mins. I believe the rush at the last min was the main cause. To prevent this from happening again is simply a matter of not rushing yourself. Stay in your seat until finishing all checklists. We could have deadheaded home on another flight.

Title: FLT CREW OF B757, DISTR BY AN ACFT SYS PROB AND FATIGUED BY AN ALL-NIGHT FLT, FAILED TO SHUT DOWN R ENG BEFORE DEPLANING.

Narrative: FLEW ALL-NIGHTER TO ZZZ. LANDED AND TAXIED TO THE GATE. ACCOMPLISHED AFTER LNDG CHKLIST/ENG SHUTDOWN CHKLIST, BUT FAILED TO SHUT DOWN R ENG. RETURNED TO ACFT SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING TO SHUT IT DOWN. I BELIEVE THAT THE FACTORS THAT LED TO THIS EVENT WERE: 1) FATIGUE FROM ALL NIGHTER. 2) DISTR BY APU FAILING TO START AND WAITING FOR GND PERSONNEL TO ATTACH EXTERNAL PWR. 3) I LEFT MY SEAT BEFORE FINISHING CHKLIST BECAUSE I NEEDED TO GO TO THE BATHROOM REALLY BAD. 4) WE WERE IN A RUSH TO MAKE A CONNECTING FLT THAT WAS LEAVING IN 9 MINS. I BELIEVE THE RUSH AT THE LAST MIN WAS THE MAIN CAUSE. TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN IS SIMPLY A MATTER OF NOT RUSHING YOURSELF. STAY IN YOUR SEAT UNTIL FINISHING ALL CHKLISTS. WE COULD HAVE DEADHEADED HOME ON ANOTHER FLT.
