Narrative:

While on an instrument flight plan for ahh, wi, to microphone, I requested ATC permission to fly the GPS runway 14L on my own navigation. The controller responded 'roger.' I initiated a right turn to fly direct to the IAP, at which time the controller advised me that I had not been cleared to fly the GPS runway 14L (I no uncertain terms) and ordered me to turn left to 260 degree heading. My suggestion is that ATC use clrer language in this situation, such as 'stand by for clearance,' rather than a simple 'roger.' as far as I know, this deviation did not create a conflict with other traffic in the area.
