Narrative:
Returned to cockpit after second crew break. First officer was to be the PF for the approach and landing on runway 14R at ord. While slowly preparing/working ourselves into the arrival routine, I conducted my final audit of the aircraft and flight plan forecast. At this time, the flight plan forecast had been put away/filed by the relief pilots. I asked the relief first officer's to confirm that we had received an acceptable re-dispatch. They informed me that they had not. I immediately scanned the ACARS message received log and confirmed that 1 had not been received and overlooked. Notified dispatch and awaited his response for several mins as we began descent. Relief first officer called dispatch. Dispatcher stated that they had overlooked it and that a shift change had occurred. Shortly, dispatcher read the re-dispatch information to the first officer and then sent a hard copy over ACARS. We had clearly noted need for re-dispatch on the flight plan forecast. It got overlooked when the relief pilots received a rerte further down the line, and did not see any more need to keep the flight plan forecast out and accessible.

Title: FLT CREW OF LONG RANGE INTL B772 FAILED TO RECEIVE AND OR REQUEST APPROPRIATE RE-DISPATCH MESSAGE FROM DISPATCHERS. FLT CREW REST BREAKS AND RERTE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ERROR.
Narrative: RETURNED TO COCKPIT AFTER SECOND CREW BREAK. FO WAS TO BE THE PF FOR THE APCH AND LNDG ON RWY 14R AT ORD. WHILE SLOWLY PREPARING/WORKING OURSELVES INTO THE ARR ROUTINE, I CONDUCTED MY FINAL AUDIT OF THE ACFT AND FLT PLAN FORECAST. AT THIS TIME, THE FLT PLAN FORECAST HAD BEEN PUT AWAY/FILED BY THE RELIEF PLTS. I ASKED THE RELIEF FO'S TO CONFIRM THAT WE HAD RECEIVED AN ACCEPTABLE RE-DISPATCH. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD NOT. I IMMEDIATELY SCANNED THE ACARS MESSAGE RECEIVED LOG AND CONFIRMED THAT 1 HAD NOT BEEN RECEIVED AND OVERLOOKED. NOTIFIED DISPATCH AND AWAITED HIS RESPONSE FOR SEVERAL MINS AS WE BEGAN DSCNT. RELIEF FO CALLED DISPATCH. DISPATCHER STATED THAT THEY HAD OVERLOOKED IT AND THAT A SHIFT CHANGE HAD OCCURRED. SHORTLY, DISPATCHER READ THE RE-DISPATCH INFO TO THE FO AND THEN SENT A HARD COPY OVER ACARS. WE HAD CLRLY NOTED NEED FOR RE-DISPATCH ON THE FLT PLAN FORECAST. IT GOT OVERLOOKED WHEN THE RELIEF PLTS RECEIVED A RERTE FURTHER DOWN THE LINE, AND DID NOT SEE ANY MORE NEED TO KEEP THE FLT PLAN FORECAST OUT AND ACCESSIBLE.
