Narrative:
Center tank fuel boost pumps checked good on ground. Recognized in-flight boost pump failure. Ran fuel and checklist. Called maintenance controller, declared emergency for minimum fuel. Diverted to las and landed there uneventfully, with approximately 4000 pounds usable wing fuel. Emergency terminated. Total unusable center tank fuel approximately 10000 pounds. Landing weight 124000 pounds. Fuel log detected failure at third fuel log fix where center fuel first indicated same as second fix. Checking main tank fuel in addition to center tank fuel at all fuel log fixes will now be a priority and would have helped detect failure at second fuel log fix.

Title: MD80 CREW HAD A DUAL CTR FUEL TANK BOOST PUMP FAILURE, RENDERING ALL FUEL IN THE CTR TANK UNUSABLE.
Narrative: CTR TANK FUEL BOOST PUMPS CHKED GOOD ON GND. RECOGNIZED INFLT BOOST PUMP FAILURE. RAN FUEL AND CHKLIST. CALLED MAINT CTLR, DECLARED EMER FOR MINIMUM FUEL. DIVERTED TO LAS AND LANDED THERE UNEVENTFULLY, WITH APPROX 4000 LBS USABLE WING FUEL. EMER TERMINATED. TOTAL UNUSABLE CTR TANK FUEL APPROX 10000 LBS. LNDG WT 124000 LBS. FUEL LOG DETECTED FAILURE AT THIRD FUEL LOG FIX WHERE CTR FUEL FIRST INDICATED SAME AS SECOND FIX. CHKING MAIN TANK FUEL IN ADDITION TO CTR TANK FUEL AT ALL FUEL LOG FIXES WILL NOW BE A PRIORITY AND WOULD HAVE HELPED DETECT FAILURE AT SECOND FUEL LOG FIX.
