Narrative:
Aircraft #2 was assigned a 265 degree heading for climb, reaching FL350 cleared direct gld. Next controller called to verbalize a pointout at FL330 and to tell my radar to leave aircraft #2 on a 265 degree heading for additional traffic. Radar rogered the request. Radar switched communications on aircraft #2 and told aircraft #2 next sector was aware of the heading and would have on course clearing additional traffic. Radar didn't give aircraft #2 clearance to change original clearance. Reaching FL350 aircraft #2 turned right direct gld and separation was lost with aircraft #1.

Title: ZID CTLR LOST SEPARATION WITH AN ENRTE AND CLBING ACFT AT FL350.
Narrative: ACFT #2 WAS ASSIGNED A 265 DEG HDG FOR CLB, REACHING FL350 CLRED DIRECT GLD. NEXT CTLR CALLED TO VERBALIZE A POINTOUT AT FL330 AND TO TELL MY RADAR TO LEAVE ACFT #2 ON A 265 DEG HDG FOR ADDITIONAL TFC. RADAR ROGERED THE REQUEST. RADAR SWITCHED COMS ON ACFT #2 AND TOLD ACFT #2 NEXT SECTOR WAS AWARE OF THE HEADING AND WOULD HAVE ON COURSE CLRING ADDITIONAL TFC. RADAR DIDN'T GIVE ACFT #2 CLRNC TO CHANGE ORIGINAL CLRNC. REACHING FL350 ACFT #2 TURNED R DIRECT GLD AND SEPARATION WAS LOST WITH ACFT #1.
