Narrative:
A request to norcal approach was cleared through class B airspace from over the city of san francisco through san francisco air traffic area. After a squawk code and a clearance (xyzw, I think), I was handed off to the tower. The tower gave me a heading of 200 degrees to clear restr airspace. Special event in progress was the reason for the tfr. I am not a sports fan so not aware. I was advised by FSS it is the pilot's responsibility to know when the tfr is in place at sports events. Pilots must be vigilant of their sits in this day and age.

Title: COMMERCIAL RATED PLT ON PLEASURE FLT REQUESTS AND IS CLRED FOR A 'BAY TOUR' INCLUDING CLRNC THROUGH THE SFO CLASS B AIRSPACE GENERALLY FOLLOWING A LCL FREEWAY. WHILE DOING SO, HE FLIES THROUGH AN ARENA TFR AT A MAJOR SPORTS STADIUM.
Narrative: A REQUEST TO NORCAL APCH WAS CLRED THROUGH CLASS B AIRSPACE FROM OVER THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO THROUGH SAN FRANCISCO ATA. AFTER A SQUAWK CODE AND A CLRNC (XYZW, I THINK), I WAS HANDED OFF TO THE TWR. THE TWR GAVE ME A HDG OF 200 DEGS TO CLR RESTR AIRSPACE. SPECIAL EVENT IN PROGRESS WAS THE REASON FOR THE TFR. I AM NOT A SPORTS FAN SO NOT AWARE. I WAS ADVISED BY FSS IT IS THE PLT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO KNOW WHEN THE TFR IS IN PLACE AT SPORTS EVENTS. PLTS MUST BE VIGILANT OF THEIR SITS IN THIS DAY AND AGE.
