Narrative:
On approach into bhm, engine lost power on descent from 7000 ft to 3000 ft MSL. Emergency was declared and vectors were given to the bessemer airport (eky). Before having to make a forced landing, engine regained power and an emergency landing was made at bessemer. The aircraft is currently undergoing inspection, and mechanics believe the problem was related to a malfunctioning fuel selector valve.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF PA32 EXPERIENCES ENG FAILURE DURING DSCNT. DECLARES EMER AND DIVERTS TO BHM. ENG RESUMES OP DURING DSCNT FOR LNDG DURING A NIGHT OP.
Narrative: ON APCH INTO BHM, ENG LOST PWR ON DSCNT FROM 7000 FT TO 3000 FT MSL. EMER WAS DECLARED AND VECTORS WERE GIVEN TO THE BESSEMER ARPT (EKY). BEFORE HAVING TO MAKE A FORCED LNDG, ENG REGAINED PWR AND AN EMER LNDG WAS MADE AT BESSEMER. THE ACFT IS CURRENTLY UNDERGOING INSPECTION, AND MECHS BELIEVE THE PROB WAS RELATED TO A MALFUNCTIONING FUEL SELECTOR VALVE.
