Narrative:
We attempted to use door 2L for deplaning but we were unable to open the door. The station was advised and a mechanic worked on the door. During a phone call to maintenance he discovered the interior door handle had been installed improperly which prevented opening so he corrected the handle. We had arrived late and I was concerned about departing as soon as possible for the many ZZZ1 connections. During cruise on the return flight suddenly I realized I never even entered the problem in the logbook. Unbelievably, in the commotion and rush to depart, I inadvertently overlooked that I hadn't entered the problem into the aircraft logbook.
