Narrative:
After landing runway 8L at atl, cleared on taxiway C. Stopped awaiting instructions. Prior to taxiway B, was cleared to hold short of runway 8R at taxiway C. Aircraft on short final elected to go around as he felt that the tail of our aircraft had not cleared far enough on taxiway C. The problem arose from my not clearing the runway far enough, anticipating a possible turn onto taxiway B, when in fact, with atl airport operating with east departures it is highly unlikely that one would receive a clearance onto taxiway B due to ground congestion. Taxiway C is a 90 degree turnoff and leaves very little distance until taxiway B. In hindsight, it would have been better to exit the next high speed taxiway at B7 and had more taxi space to maneuver. In my effort to clear the runway as soon as possible for an aircraft close behind, to avoid a go around, I in fact set up the situation where he elected to go around. Had I taken the high speed taxiway and not the 90 degree turnoff, I feel there would have been no problem.

Title: RWY INCURSION BY A B737 FLT CREW EXITING RWY 8L ON TXWY C WHEN THEIR TAIL HAD QUESTIONABLE CLRNC FROM THE RWY FOR A LNDG ACR ON RWY 8R AT ATL, GA.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG RWY 8L AT ATL, CLRED ON TXWY C. STOPPED AWAITING INSTRUCTIONS. PRIOR TO TXWY B, WAS CLRED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 8R AT TXWY C. ACFT ON SHORT FINAL ELECTED TO GO AROUND AS HE FELT THAT THE TAIL OF OUR ACFT HAD NOT CLRED FAR ENOUGH ON TXWY C. THE PROB AROSE FROM MY NOT CLRING THE RWY FAR ENOUGH, ANTICIPATING A POSSIBLE TURN ONTO TXWY B, WHEN IN FACT, WITH ATL ARPT OPERATING WITH E DEPS IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT ONE WOULD RECEIVE A CLRNC ONTO TXWY B DUE TO GND CONGESTION. TXWY C IS A 90 DEG TURNOFF AND LEAVES VERY LITTLE DISTANCE UNTIL TXWY B. IN HINDSIGHT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER TO EXIT THE NEXT HIGH SPD TXWY AT B7 AND HAD MORE TAXI SPACE TO MANEUVER. IN MY EFFORT TO CLR THE RWY ASAP FOR AN ACFT CLOSE BEHIND, TO AVOID A GAR, I IN FACT SET UP THE SIT WHERE HE ELECTED TO GO AROUND. HAD I TAKEN THE HIGH SPD TXWY AND NOT THE 90 DEG TURNOFF, I FEEL THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO PROB.
