Narrative:

We received clearance to land on runway 4R at ord, and were told we 'could' roll to the end. Being at a safe and slow enough taxi speed, I elected to exit the runway just prior to the end of taxiway Q. My first officer promptly called ground on 121.9 for taxi instructions. It was then we learned that 'stopping' was not allowed on taxiway Q per ATIS. This, according to the ground controller. He asked that we please not stop there in the future, then issued taxi instructions to gate. We apologized for our (my) oversight, and taxied without incident to the gate. I interpreted the 'roll to the end' as an option, and not a 'hard' clearance and being a creature of habit, chose to exit at the high speed to minimize runway occupancy time, whereby preventing an unnecessary go around. Supplemental information from acn 606904: I was flying the approach and landing the airplane at ord on runway 4R. On final we were directed to keep up our speed as much as possible for following traffic. On touchdown we were directed to roll to the end of the runway. I landed with autobrakes #2 and autospoilers. I then deployed the thrust reversers to just reverse idle. On rollout, I had the captain disarm the autobrakes as we were slowing too quickly for a exit at the end. As we continued down the runway we were told to clear at the end and contact ground. The captain elected to take the last high speed instead of the next taxiway at the end. When I contacted ground the ground asked us to immediately clear taxiway Q and next time to roll to the end of runway 4R for the 90 degree taxiway. I feel there were two major parts to our deviation. First, we were told to expedite the approach as much as possible for following traffic, setting our mindset for minimum runway time. Second, although I was clear we needed to clear at the end, the captain turned unexpectedly at the high speed. Although I felt this to be incorrect, I did not say anything, believing he knew what he was doing. I certainly will be more proactive and aggressive in the future.

Title: B757 CREW AFTER TOUCHDOWN ORD RWY 4R IS INSTRUCTED TO ROLL TO THE END OF RWY AND TURN OFF. CREW TURNED OFF ON HIGH SPD JUST PRIOR TO THE END INSTEAD.

Narrative: WE RECEIVED CLRNC TO LAND ON RWY 4R AT ORD, AND WERE TOLD WE 'COULD' ROLL TO THE END. BEING AT A SAFE AND SLOW ENOUGH TAXI SPD, I ELECTED TO EXIT THE RWY JUST PRIOR TO THE END OF TXWY Q. MY FO PROMPTLY CALLED GND ON 121.9 FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. IT WAS THEN WE LEARNED THAT 'STOPPING' WAS NOT ALLOWED ON TXWY Q PER ATIS. THIS, ACCORDING TO THE GND CTLR. HE ASKED THAT WE PLEASE NOT STOP THERE IN THE FUTURE, THEN ISSUED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO GATE. WE APOLOGIZED FOR OUR (MY) OVERSIGHT, AND TAXIED WITHOUT INCIDENT TO THE GATE. I INTERPRETED THE 'ROLL TO THE END' AS AN OPTION, AND NOT A 'HARD' CLRNC AND BEING A CREATURE OF HABIT, CHOSE TO EXIT AT THE HIGH SPD TO MINIMIZE RWY OCCUPANCY TIME, WHEREBY PREVENTING AN UNNECESSARY GAR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 606904: I WAS FLYING THE APCH AND LNDG THE AIRPLANE AT ORD ON RWY 4R. ON FINAL WE WERE DIRECTED TO KEEP UP OUR SPD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING TFC. ON TOUCHDOWN WE WERE DIRECTED TO ROLL TO THE END OF THE RWY. I LANDED WITH AUTOBRAKES #2 AND AUTOSPOILERS. I THEN DEPLOYED THE THRUST REVERSERS TO JUST REVERSE IDLE. ON ROLLOUT, I HAD THE CAPT DISARM THE AUTOBRAKES AS WE WERE SLOWING TOO QUICKLY FOR A EXIT AT THE END. AS WE CONTINUED DOWN THE RWY WE WERE TOLD TO CLR AT THE END AND CONTACT GND. THE CAPT ELECTED TO TAKE THE LAST HIGH SPD INSTEAD OF THE NEXT TXWY AT THE END. WHEN I CONTACTED GND THE GND ASKED US TO IMMEDIATELY CLR TXWY Q AND NEXT TIME TO ROLL TO THE END OF RWY 4R FOR THE 90 DEG TXWY. I FEEL THERE WERE TWO MAJOR PARTS TO OUR DEV. FIRST, WE WERE TOLD TO EXPEDITE THE APCH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING TFC, SETTING OUR MINDSET FOR MINIMUM RWY TIME. SECOND, ALTHOUGH I WAS CLR WE NEEDED TO CLR AT THE END, THE CAPT TURNED UNEXPECTEDLY AT THE HIGH SPD. ALTHOUGH I FELT THIS TO BE INCORRECT, I DID NOT SAY ANYTHING, BELIEVING HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. I CERTAINLY WILL BE MORE PROACTIVE AND AGGRESSIVE IN THE FUTURE.
