Narrative:
During pushback/engine start, the pushback crew requested for me to set the parking brake. At that time, a spurious ECAM message made a ding as I was setting the brake and checking the gauge for altitude/brake pressure. This was during the first engine start cycle. I did not get the parking brake handle in the set detent and my eyes went to the engine warning display. The brake did not get set as I intended and I made the call 'brakes set pressure normal.' as the push crew went to disconnect the tow bar, they noticed the airplane begin to move and then transmitted, 'captain set the brake.' I quickly checked the parking brake handle and it was not in the detent. I then moved it into the set detent and the airplane stopped. The airplane only moved a few inches and I asked if they were ok. The pushback crew then finished up the remaining pushback per SOP without incident.

Title: A320 CAPT HAD A DISTR AND DID NOT GET THE PARKING BRAKES SET AS REQUESTED BY THE PUSHBACK CREW. THE ACFT MOVED SLIGHTLY AS THE TOW BAR WAS BEING DISCONNECTED.
Narrative: DURING PUSHBACK/ENG START, THE PUSHBACK CREW REQUESTED FOR ME TO SET THE PARKING BRAKE. AT THAT TIME, A SPURIOUS ECAM MESSAGE MADE A DING AS I WAS SETTING THE BRAKE AND CHKING THE GAUGE FOR ALT/BRAKE PRESSURE. THIS WAS DURING THE FIRST ENG START CYCLE. I DID NOT GET THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE IN THE SET DETENT AND MY EYES WENT TO THE ENG WARNING DISPLAY. THE BRAKE DID NOT GET SET AS I INTENDED AND I MADE THE CALL 'BRAKES SET PRESSURE NORMAL.' AS THE PUSH CREW WENT TO DISCONNECT THE TOW BAR, THEY NOTICED THE AIRPLANE BEGIN TO MOVE AND THEN XMITTED, 'CAPT SET THE BRAKE.' I QUICKLY CHKED THE PARKING BRAKE HANDLE AND IT WAS NOT IN THE DETENT.
