Narrative:
On landing rollout at ind, heard a bang and observed a flash on left side of aircraft. Suspected engine damage and called for fire trucks as we cleared the runway. Tower advised our #1 engine was on fire. We accomplished emergency shutdown and egressed using escape slide. There was some confusion when I called for the evacuate/evacuation checklist in that the first officer thought I wanted the engine shutdown checklist. Also, we were not prepared for the darkness in the cockpit after engine shutdown. In the excitement, I inadvertently fired the bottle for the APU instead of the #1 engine initially, then realized my mistake immediately and fired both bottles into the #1 engine. All other procedures were accomplished except we forgot to turn off the batteries before exiting the cockpit. Although it's impossible to prepare for every circumstance, this incident points to the need to review general emergency procedures, have an idea of what to expect (ie, lights going out when engines shut down), and to have a general game plan. Supplemental information from acn 608894: after touchdown at ind, thrust reversers were applied in accordance with company fom. When captain called 80 KTS, there was a loud bang, slight aircraft shudder and fire from the #1 engine. We saw no cockpit abnormal indications or fire lights. The thrust reversers were immediately stowed and aircraft was slowed to taxi speed and we cleared the runway. Upon contact with ground control, they informed us that they saw fire coming from our #1 engine. We exited the aircraft via the right evacuate/evacuation slide. After the aircraft was released by the ind fire department, the aircraft was towed to a parking slot and the #1 engine cowl was raised and we saw the fire damage.

Title: A WDB CARGO FLT IS EVACED DURING A NIGHT OP AFTER THE L ENG STALLS AND CATCHES FIRE DURING ROLLOUT AFTER LNDG AT IND, IN.
Narrative: ON LNDG ROLLOUT AT IND, HEARD A BANG AND OBSERVED A FLASH ON L SIDE OF ACFT. SUSPECTED ENG DAMAGE AND CALLED FOR FIRE TRUCKS AS WE CLRED THE RWY. TWR ADVISED OUR #1 ENG WAS ON FIRE. WE ACCOMPLISHED EMER SHUTDOWN AND EGRESSED USING ESCAPE SLIDE. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION WHEN I CALLED FOR THE EVAC CHKLIST IN THAT THE FO THOUGHT I WANTED THE ENG SHUTDOWN CHKLIST.
