Narrative:

I was cleared for takeoff on runway 3 by scottsdale tower. I was not advised of any traffic in the area. After takeoff I turned to my on course heading of 345 degrees. Immediately after completion of the turn I saw a red and green navigation lights extremely close at my 3 O'clock position. An evasive turn could have resulted in a collision. I immediately executed a maximum performance climb, and turned on my landing lights. The other aircraft asked on the tower frequency if we were that close and I responded 'yes we were.' he also asked the tower to mark the tapes.
