Narrative:
In the runway 25R run-up area, I was cleared for takeoff on runway 25R with a left turn on departure. I began to taxi to the runway. Just after crossing the hold short line, I saw an archer on short final for runway 25R. I immediately stopped just beyond the hold short line. The archer initiated a go around. The tower controller apologized, thanked me for stopping, and thanked the archer for the go around. The controller said something about being confused about my location. After departure, it occurred to me that he may have thought I was in the runway 25L (left) run-up area. It is possible that I misreported my location or misunderstood my takeoff clearance. Given that I was taking off on the right runway and making a left turn on departure, both words (right and left) were used in my takeoff request and in my takeoff clearance. I think that either the controller or I (or both) misspoke or incorrectly heard each other.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: RWY INCURSION WHEN AN SR22 IS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 25R WITH A PA28 ON SHORT FINAL AT LVK, CA.
Narrative: IN THE RWY 25R RUN-UP AREA, I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 25R WITH A L TURN ON DEP. I BEGAN TO TAXI TO THE RWY. JUST AFTER XING THE HOLD SHORT LINE, I SAW AN ARCHER ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 25R. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED JUST BEYOND THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE ARCHER INITIATED A GAR. THE TWR CTLR APOLOGIZED, THANKED ME FOR STOPPING, AND THANKED THE ARCHER FOR THE GAR. THE CTLR SAID SOMETHING ABOUT BEING CONFUSED ABOUT MY LOCATION. AFTER DEP, IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT HE MAY HAVE THOUGHT I WAS IN THE RWY 25L (L) RUN-UP AREA. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT I MISREPORTED MY LOCATION OR MISUNDERSTOOD MY TKOF CLRNC. GIVEN THAT I WAS TAKING OFF ON THE R RWY AND MAKING A L TURN ON DEP, BOTH WORDS (R AND L) WERE USED IN MY TKOF REQUEST AND IN MY TKOF CLRNC. I THINK THAT EITHER THE CTLR OR I (OR BOTH) MISSPOKE OR INCORRECTLY HEARD EACH OTHER.
