Narrative:
Smoke and fumes on climb out. Took off from runway 13 on maspeth climb. We noticed a smell after gear retraction and before the turn at 3000 ft. Received a call from flight attendant that there was smoke in the cabin. We made turn at 3000 ft and headed west just south of lga. We shut off the recirculation fan, turned off the packs and shut off the galley power. We asked ATC for a leveloff at 6000 ft and declared an emergency for smoke and fumes in the cockpit and cabin. We asked for vectors to kennedy, as this was the briefed divert field. The captain was flying and he handled PA's and ATC, I ran the QRH and landing checklist. We checked with the flight attendants a couple times to see if things were improving, and they said that it was the same. We landed uneventfully at jfk runway 22R and taxied to the gate. The agent had problems with the jetbridge so we exited the passenger out the rear stairs and up the jetbridge. Aircraft was taken OTS.
