Narrative:
On descent into atl, leveling off at 3500 ft, got slight/momentary stick shaker. Autothrottles kicked off. Looking for traffic, didn't notice autothrottle disengaged. Added power and lowered more flaps, rolled out of turn. No altitude loss or other problems. Supplemental information from acn 613241: as PNF, I did not catch that autothrottles were disengaged as we leveled at 3500 ft while rolling out on our base turn. My head was down checking the idents for the localizer when we got a momentary stick shaker. Speed was low for current flaps, captain made aggressive power input, called for more (20 degrees from 15 degrees) flaps, and aircraft continued normally. I'll make a point now of checking for not only 'altitude capture' annunciation, but also the autothrottle indication now.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B767 CREW HAD A STICK SHAKER ACTIVATION WHEN THE CREW DID NOT REALIZE THE AUTOTHROTTLES WERE DISENGAGED.
Narrative: ON DSCNT INTO ATL, LEVELING OFF AT 3500 FT, GOT SLIGHT/MOMENTARY STICK SHAKER. AUTOTHROTTLES KICKED OFF. LOOKING FOR TFC, DIDN'T NOTICE AUTOTHROTTLE DISENGAGED. ADDED PWR AND LOWERED MORE FLAPS, ROLLED OUT OF TURN. NO ALT LOSS OR OTHER PROBS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 613241: AS PNF, I DID NOT CATCH THAT AUTOTHROTTLES WERE DISENGAGED AS WE LEVELED AT 3500 FT WHILE ROLLING OUT ON OUR BASE TURN. MY HEAD WAS DOWN CHKING THE IDENTS FOR THE LOC WHEN WE GOT A MOMENTARY STICK SHAKER. SPD WAS LOW FOR CURRENT FLAPS, CAPT MADE AGGRESSIVE PWR INPUT, CALLED FOR MORE (20 DEGS FROM 15 DEGS) FLAPS, AND ACFT CONTINUED NORMALLY. I'LL MAKE A POINT NOW OF CHKING FOR NOT ONLY 'ALT CAPTURE' ANNUNCIATION, BUT ALSO THE AUTOTHROTTLE INDICATION NOW.
