Narrative:
On takeoff roll from mco, at approximately 100 KTS, had to abort takeoff due to left engine failure. First officer was flying. We heard a thump and felt vibration like rough terrain. Initially thought it to be compressor stall or tire failure. Observed high egt and low oil pressure. We shut down left engine, taxied off runway, completed all abnormal and abort procedures. We called ground to dispatch emergency equipment for a damage report. No secondary hazards noted. After assessment by flight crew and fire chief, taxied to gate for maintenance. All passenger well informed and cooperative. No injuries to passenger or crew. No other damage to aircraft.
