Narrative:
On taxi to runway, noted right generator tie open annunciator. Failed to reset using abnormal checklist procedure. Holding short of runway, shut down right engine, then restarted right engine. Right generator tie remained open despite attempts to reset it. We returned to the gate and performed a normal, complete shutdown, following which we were able to reset the tie. We then pushed back from the gate and performed the normal start sequence with no further aberrations. Now focused on resuming the schedule, the company policy regarding entry of even transient discrepancies in the aircraft discrepancy log escaped my immediate attention. Although it occurred to me later, it was too late, as the flight following the return to gate technically should not have been conducted without a corresponding adl entry.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A BE-1900 FLT CREW FAIL TO USE PUBLISHED PROC TO RESET A GENERATOR BUS TIE AND FAIL TO WRITE UP THE DISCREPANCY IN THE ACFT LOG.
Narrative: ON TAXI TO RWY, NOTED R GENERATOR TIE OPEN ANNUNCIATOR. FAILED TO RESET USING ABNORMAL CHKLIST PROC. HOLDING SHORT OF RWY, SHUT DOWN R ENG, THEN RESTARTED R ENG. R GENERATOR TIE REMAINED OPEN DESPITE ATTEMPTS TO RESET IT. NOW FOCUSED ON RESUMING THE SCHEDULE, THE COMPANY POLICY REGARDING ENTRY OF EVEN TRANSIENT DISCREPANCIES IN THE ACFT DISCREPANCY LOG ESCAPED MY IMMEDIATE ATTN. ALTHOUGH IT OCCURRED TO ME LATER, IT WAS TOO LATE, AS THE FLT FOLLOWING THE RETURN TO GATE TECHNICALLY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CONDUCTED WITHOUT A CORRESPONDING ADL ENTRY.
